Humanimal Virtual Conference: The Bible & "Animal" Others
Nonhuman animals pervade the Bible. Despite this, they have often been overlooked in biblical scholarship, written off as background or as symbols for human concerns. This conference offers a corrective to this oversight by hosting a conversation about “animal” others in biblical texts, Second Temple literature, and the Bible’s reception. The conference is free, but registration is required.

Rethinking Class in Intersectional Activism and Faith-Based Community Organizing
The Center & Library for the Bible and Social Justice and the Wendland-Cook Program in Religion and Justice will host this online seminar to honor and continue to reflect on the scholarly legacy of CLBSJ’s co-founder, Rev. Dr. Norman K. Gottwald.This online seminar will continue discussions begun at the Society for Biblical Literature annual meeting on the effects that Dr. Norman Gottwald’s 1992 presidential address, Social Class as an Analytic and Hermeneutical Category in Biblical Studies, has had on the role of class analysis in biblical studies.

SBL Global Virtual Meeting
Launching for the first time in 2023, SBL is planning a brand new Global Virtual Meeting. As a meeting designed from the ground up for a virtual environment, it can offer experiences, opportunities, mentoring possibilities, presentation formats, and accessibility that are not possible in an in-person meeting. This means emphasizing the possibilities of both live and asynchronous participation, as well as exploring new modes of participation that differ from those of past SBL meetings.

Interpreting Sacred Texts in Contemporary Africa: Concepts, Methods and Approaches
This international conference, to be held from June 29 to July 1, 2022 is being organised by the Department for the Study of Religions, University of Ghana, Legon and the Département d'écriture sainte of the Institut de Théologie de la Compagnie de Jesus, (ITCJ), Abidjan. Papers will interpret sacred texts within changing contexts in Africa. The deadline for abstract submissions is March 31, 2023. Abstracts may be submitted to sacredtexts@ug.edu.gh.

Epistemology of the Ancient Fertile Crescent
Reflection on knowledge is often assumed to origin in the formation of Greek philosophy since pre-Socratic times. Based on this insight, earlier cultural stages in the ancient Near East, including ancient Israel, are described as archaic. Against this view, new approaches to the study of epistemologies in these cultures have emerged in the recent years. The aim of the conference “Epistemology of the Ancient Fertile Crescent” is to bring these new approaches into dialogue to create a concise picture of epistemological processes in the cultures of this region.

Colloquium Biblicum Lovaniense LXXII: Early Christianity in Civic Space
The Colloquium Biblicum Lovaniense is an annual international conference on biblical studies jointly organised by the theological faculties of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the Université Catholique de Louvain. The meetings take place in the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the KU Leuven and are alternately dedicated to a topic in Old and in New Testament Studies. The deadline for short paper proposals is March 31, 2023.

Perceptions of Writing in Papyri: Crossing Close and Distant Readings Online Conference
This online conference will analyze how digital culture has changed the perceptions of writing styles in papyri. Studies conducted by modern scholars have always been the main way of evaluating papyri, determining their dates and content. We will evaluate the current ways scholars view the aesthetics of papyri in a world where close and distant readings are intersecting more every day.
